City of Creve Coeur “Wonders of Nature” Arbor Day Art Contest

Parc Provence residents recently participated in the “Wonders of Nature: Arbor Day Art Contest in Creve Coeur. Art therapists helped our memory care residents create beautiful works to enter in the contest. Several even received rewards for their creations!

The Wonders of Nature Art Contest was open to all ages. It was sponsored by the City of Creve Coeur, and the public was invited to to view submissions at Tappmeyer House in Millennium Park on May 1 from 1 – 3 p.m. Winning submissions will be on display at the Creve Coeur Government Center throughout the month of May.

We are so proud of all of our Parc Provence residents who chose to participate in the contest. Art therapy always focuses on the process rather than the final product, but we can’t help being impressed by the work of our residents. Participation in art therapy sessions allows seniors to exhibit self-expression while experiencing stress relief and applications focused on cognitive functioning for people with memory loss.

Winning Art

Four Parc Provence submissions were recognized with awards in the Senior (65+) category. The following residents will have their art displayed at the Creve Coeur Government Center until the end of the month.

It was a pleasure working with residents to create all of the artwork for this contest. We hope they enjoyed the experience as much as we enjoyed facilitating the art therapy sessions with this group.
